Kids grow fast, and rarely at the pace a label expects. A few minutes with a measuring tape will get you a better fit than going by age alone. Here is how to pick a size that fits now and still works a few months from today.
1. Measure, don't guess
The age on a label is only a starting point. Measure your child's height, chest and waist while they stand straight in light clothing, then compare the numbers with the size options on each product page.
2. Leave a little room to grow
If your child sits between two sizes, choose the larger one. Tees, hoodies and joggers with a relaxed cut still look right a size up, and they last longer.
3. Check the places that matter
- Shoulders: seams should sit at the edge of the shoulder, not halfway down the arm.
- Sleeves and legs: cuffs can be rolled once, but should not cover the hands or drag on the floor.
- Waist: an elastic waistband should stay up without leaving marks.
4. Shoes need a thumb's width
For sneakers and trainers, leave about a thumb's width between the longest toe and the end of the shoe. Measure feet in the afternoon, when they are at their largest.
